CBC reviews Nervous

FirstPlay-Siskiyou-Nervous_0112111343529_16x9_620x350
“Siskiyou’s Nervous is needles, bees, blood, voices in your head, a spider crawling up your neck — and then just as quickly, the album’s awash in a sunny glow, becomes a slow-burning kiss, a walk in the woods, a heated blanket on a winter’s night. Whatever you’re most afraid of and whatever brings you tiny respites of joy, Nervous is a conjuror one minute, a soothsayer the next.”

Nervous comes out today!

Well….It’s been a long wait, but the day is finally here. Our new record, Nervous comes out today! I can’t say it was a particularly easy record to make. And there’s certainly no way it would have been possible without help from amazing folks like Colin Stetson, Owen Pallett, Tamara Lindeman, JP Carter, Leon Taheny, John Raham, and Ryan Driver…. just to name a few. Thanks guys! And thanks to everyone for all of the love and support along the way. I really hope you all enjoy the new songs. Hopefully we’ll be visiting your town soon to play them for you live! See you then.

Exclaim Reviews the new album

“A lush, stunning baroque rock album… Whereas Siskiyou’s first two albums were more folk-inclined, Nervous takes a different approach, with hushed, haunted art rock as a sturdy — but eerie — sonic base upon which the orchestral elements stand fully supported.”

Review on Quick Before it Melts

“Nervous is resplendent in moments of beautiful melody and a clarity of sound that cuts through the record’s more chaotic elements (or do the chaotic elements cut through the clarity?) like flashes of solace through suffering. Siskiyou, along with producer and engineer Leon Taheny and guest musicians Colin Stetson, Owen Pallett, JP Carter, Ryan Driver and the St. James Music Academy Senior Choir, have fashioned an immersive, dramatic experience of sounds both internal and external with Nervous; once it gets into your head, it’ll never come out.”

We’re having a record release party to celebrate the birth of “Keep Away the Dead”.  It’s the only Canadian show we’re playing for the rest of the year and it will occur on October 13th at the Waldorf Hotel in Vancouver.  Helping us celebrate will be the ever talented Christopher Smith and the Beckon Call and Andrew Lee of the band In Media Res.  Hope to see you there!
